'66TACHOMETER COLOR BAND

I've recently seen two '66 small block cars, 300hp and 350hp, with tachometer color bands that didn't appear to change from the yellow to red. Both of them didn't appear to have had the instrument panels removed. The range of the color bands were correct. I assume that all original tachs did in fact hava a distinct change from yellow to red?

The red will fade to nearly a perfect match to the yellow.

Convertibles fade faster

Direct sun exposure. Same with the fluorescent radio needle.

The 65-67 tachs are among the worst as far as propensity for the color fade of the tachomter bands is concerned. 68+ are more "color-fast".
