    Radiator support 64-65 Fuelie

    I have (2) radiator supports. One is an early 63 F.I.and the other is a 64/65 F.I.
My question is: On the 64/65 core support, are the diagonal rods "capped at their lower attachment to the core support by saddle-shaped brackets", as they are on the early 63 with curved brace ?

Capped with the brackets on original and good reproductions. Welded directly at the bottom on GM service replacement vintage items.

Thank you, Bill. That answers my question.

I have often wondered about the cross braces. I looked at a very low mileage ' 65
that the lower cross braces were welded. Other than that the car was super. I passed on it. For whatever reason, most of the ones I have seen were welded and I passed on them. Maybe rust or front end damage.

The FI support with welded braces was, for many years, the only service replacement '63-67 smallblock service part available. Crashes, rust and other issues caused a number on non-fi cars to carry the "Fuelie" core support between the late 60's and the present.

My 64 FI is capped with saddle-shaped bracket almost at end of rod and then what appears to be welded.
