    66 Dark blue carpet woes

    '66" dark blue carpet .
I sent back a piece of my dark blue carpet along with a piece of the carpet Al Knoch sent me and got a call from Dale today. While he admits the two are different he states he does not have a piece of original dark blue "66" carpet to compare to,and I have to admit that I can not prove That my sample is original.
So,does any one out there have a piece of original "66" dark blue carpeting I could borrow {preferably a piece with the JP Stevens sticker attached},Or any other color sample that dictates the Dark blue tone as it should be?
I am also asking the "66' judging Chairman for input. Is there is any way to describe the color.....say by comparing the tone to the seat covers or door panels........on the web?
    Thanks in advance,

Jim. How does the Al Knoch dark blue carpet match/mismatch with your dark blue interior? In what way is it causing appearance problems?

I'm looking at a '66 car with dark blue interior that needs a new interior...

It's lighter than my existing. It's lighter than the door panels, seat covers, and much lighter than the vinal trim that surrounds it! I would describe it as a dark "Royal Blue"not a Navy Blue or Dark Blue as I thought it should be.
Problem is, I still dont know what it should look like!

It seems hard to believe that Al Knoch can't get it right. After all, he markets his company as having exact repro interiors. Why should you have to go and find a proper sample for him to match? He should be out doing that for all of us!

Jim - I'm currently restoring a '66 with dark blue interior as well. My car came with the original carpeting...in pretty sad condition, but original. I also have the new Al Knoch dark blue carpeting in the box. I'll compare the two this weekend and see how close they are and post a reply.

If you'd like a section of my original, I'm happy to cut a square and send it to you. Drop me an email if interested.

          Tim

            Dark Blue Carpet

Got mine from Wilcox Corvette (I forget the MFG), but was a very good match to the original.

                Jim,

Have you call Auto Custom Carpets to see what kind of sample that they have. They may have a correct match.

                  Gary,
Just did ! They say they have three different dark blues and they are happy to send all three for my viewing pleasure.
                  Thanks,
                  Jim
Ps.to the rest of you guys out there...Auto Costom states that they send out samples prior to you order as a matter of routine, just to make sure you get what you want !

                        Maybe,

I'll look in the attic. Most was shot, but I might have saved some "under the seat" pieces.
