I'm trying to decide if I should have my master cylinder and calipers resleeved. I see that if I do have them done then I'll have two options, stainless or brass. They both seem to have pros and cons so which ones do you guys think are the better way to go?

Re: brake cyl sleeve question
You will get lots of opinions on this. I had my master cylinder done by Apple hydraulics. They recommended brass in the master, they will do SS if you want but brass seems to work better in that application. I believe most calipers are
done in Stainless. There have been lots of discussions on this in the past.- Top

Re: brake cyl sleeve question
Gregg-----
I recommend brass for master cylinders and stainless for calipers. Why the difference? Piston travel in a master cylinder is much greater than piston travel in a caliper. Brass is more durable in applications that have significant piston travel. You'll probably never wear out either brass or stainless, but I still prefer brass for master cylinders. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: brake cyl sleeve question
Greg - You might consider White Post Restorations in Virginia for reworking your master cylinder. They sleeve with brass and have a short turn-around time with fair prices. Talk to them about painting or not, your choice. They advertise in many car publications including, I think, Driveline.
