The manuals all call for a #90 bulb for the parking brake warning(which is a 2 terminal large diameter bulb). The hole in the instrument panel is a small dia. hole and the wiring harness for it is a single wire. If I try to use a #57 bulb(dash light), it won't flash because it doesn't draw enough current to make the Tung-Sol flasher work. I can hook the flasher up to a #90 bulb on the bench and everything works fine. Right now I'm just using a #257 flashing bulb like the 61-62's use but would like to use the correct stuff. HELP!.

Re: 1960 Parking Brake Flasher/Bulb
'60 was the first year to use the 257 bulb, just like the '61-62 setup, at least per the Corvette Servicing guide. If it works, I'd wald away and say you just "got it right"Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 1960 Parking Brake Flasher/Bulb
Bill, Thanks for the reply. I saw what you are referring to on the last page of the servicing guide about 60-62 using the flashing bulb but if you look on page 12-13, the wiring diagram clearly shows that the 58-60 have a flasher (black Tung-sol brand)in the circuit. Noland Adams book states the same on page 349. The owners manual states I need the #90 bulb not the #257 bulb. Also, my car came originally with the flasher clipped to the left kick panel and wired in as both books say. My only problem is the darn thing won't flash using the only bulb that will fit in the hole but flashes fine when using the bulb all the books call for (but it's too big to fit and requires 2 wires instead of one). I hope this explains my confusion. Thanks, Jim- Top
