'59 Road draft tube

Should there be an attachment bracket that goes to a starter bolt at the bottom of the road draft tube on a '59 230 horse? My tube doesn't have one. It looks like it's been scraped on the bottom once, so it's possible that the bracket broke off, however I can't find any evidence that it was ever there. I should be able to see where it was spot welded on or something, and I cannot.

the bracket you're missing simply slides up on the tube. it isn't welded. just encircles the tube. pass cars of the era used the same bracket. shouldn't be hard to come by. good luck, mike

Yes. It bolts to the starter mounting bolt on the engine side of the two bolts holding the strater from the front. You should be able to find one in a junk yard, in any 56-62 V-8 car. The raod draft tube is the same, so if you find one on a car, take the whole thing. Be careful not to break the mitered weld at the top of the engine.

You might be able to purchase the just mounting bracket at CC or paragon.
