    55 horn problem-Roy Bratz

Roy-- Do you have one of those nice drawings of the workings of the mechanicals that make the horn beep. My horn is going off every time i turn the wheel. I obtained a horn beeping kit from Mary Jo (with a blurred unreadable drawing) and it doesn't seem to fit or i am dong it wrong. Maybe I have the wrong kit or the wrong steering wheel

If your horn goes off every time you turn the wheel, I suspect your upper shaft bushing is shot. They cost about $40 and are relatively easy to replace. Full instructions are contained in the ST12.

The ST12 is required reading for every C1 owner. It is the factory service manual covering 1953-62 Corvettes. It is available from any of the usual catalog vendors, or from the NCRS bookstore, elsewhere on this site. (see the blocks at the top of the page for the bookstore) If you own a C1 Corvete, this book is almost a must have item.

%99 of dealers sell the 55-56 CAR horn kit , Corvette is different , Car will not work. The plastic three hole ring is to BIG for the C1 chrome horn ring to fit the horn ring and metal disk. Get a Corvette kit.
1Metal disk first, cone shape UP
            2 Plastic spacer next
3 plastic ring three hole on horn ring
            4 three slot head screw
            5 done.
            Problem
1 metal disk wrong side down
2 plastic ring not aligned with the metal disk
3 trying to make a CAR kit work
