    camshaft, new design??

Vette magazine has an article on page 7 about a new comp cams camshaft that swaps the firing order of cylinders 4 and 7. They claim the torque curve is smoother but they don't say if it is lower, higher or the same but smoother. Can someone explain the theory/physics of how this can be? John.

The 7-4 swap cams have been used in race motors for some time now. They are supposed to eliminate some of the harmonics that occur within the Chevy motors with the stock firing order. I have been using one of these cams in a 583 cubic inch. BBC for three years now. The gain in using the 7-4 swap cam is somewhere between 10 to 15 horsepower, however this is on a motor that produces just shy of 1100 horsepower. I doubt that it would make any significant different in most all street motors.

Where have you been? Page down to the thread title "Duke...a question" on Feb 10. 6:43 AM - two days ago.

You have to quit believing everything you read is hot rod magazines.
