I have a pair of 5 leaf springs off of my 58 and the part # is 3751438.
Are these original HD springs? Can I have them rearched ? Should I bother?
Thanks in advance.
GM #3751438 is the part number for the FOUR leaf spring used for many C1 applications WITHOUT HD suspension. Perhaps, the ones you have were "reconfigured" (i.e. a leaf added).
Hi Larry - As Joe sez, that is the correct P/N for C-1 rear springs, and some what unlikely that the extra leaf came from the factory. You might also look for another set of numbers in the same area and they will give you the date of spring manufacture. It should be something like X or XXX, 8E or maybe 7E. The X is the Julian date of that year; the 8 (or maybe 7) is the year; and E is the manufacturer (Eaton Springs). Eaton Springs has a good website explaning the re-arching process.
