Complete, new frames for most 53-82 Corvettes are manufactured by Vette Products of Michigan and are sold through their dealers like Dr. Rebuild (www.docrebuild.com). In my mind, a NEW reproduction frame is better than any used, "reconditioned" frame. The overall condition of a used frame can be very hard to assess. Only in the last few years have these new frames been available. Prior to that, if you needed a frame, then you had to find a good used/"reconditioned" example.

As far as the birdcage components go, some of these are manufactured by RSC Reproductions of Ohio. I think that they're available from Dr. Rebuild, too. These include the upper windshield frame member, the upper corner members, and the side member sections. The lower corner members and lower windshield frame cross member are not reproduced. The complete side windshield frame pillars are not reproduced, either. If you need the whole, complete windshield frame, then you'll have to find a good used example. For that, I'd try Pacific Corvette in Puyallup, WA.

Where in Canada are you located? There's a surprising number of Corvette boneyards here.

              Mike------

You mean to tell me that there are some Corvette boneyards in Canada that have USABLE frames? I thought all the ones up there were like "Swiss cheese"?

                Re: 69 frame supplier

There used to be a lot of supply of rust free Corvette parts in Canada. Many cars are not ever winter driven. Altho the mid years stuff is/has been mostly grabbed up. I have seen many cars and frames from the eastern states that are as rough as any seen in Canada. In the western provinces I have rarely seen a rusty, swiss cheesed frame. Eastern Canada/US is another story.

Frank McCracken has summarised well. There's generally two types of cars here- the swiss cheese variety due to the first or second owner having driven it year round, and the babied type that survived by being stored as soon as the snow flies. The replacement frame on my car came from a babied car that was unfortunately destroyed in a garage fire. My birdcage came from another babied car that had been accidented in a rear ender but was uneconomical to repair.

Last time I visited the local shop mentioned above, I would bet he had enough parts to keep a good size fleet of C3s going forever.
