    More Lacquer Questions

Did some searching here and it seems that the PPG Duracryl Lacquer is the only thing available. Could anyone recommend or point me to any other type/brand/source? I am ready to paint my 63 and want to do it in the original (or closest to) Ermine White.

    Thanks

ps: I've heard some less than favorable things about the PPG Duracryl but don't have any personal experience. Looking for opinions also.

    Re: More Lacquer Questions

I have been using PPG lacquer since my Dupont supplier quit carrying lacquer over 10 years ago, and have been very pleased with the PPG lacquer.

      Re: More Lacquer Questions

Just got my '63 back last Monday, painted with PPG lacquer in Ermine white. Looks great! Basecoat/Clear coat would look better and probably last a lot longer, but I wanted it the way it was. e-mail directly back at shsteffensen@wowway.com and I will send you pictures if you like or go to murphysclassics.com and see it for yourself.

Since your car is a solid color, I agree with John on the PPG color. You could also consider acrilic enamel base with no clear, dulling down the door jams etc.

Re: More Lacquer Questions - Thanks!

Thanks for all the info. I'm torn on several fronts. This at least provides more info to help make a decision.

          Thanks much!

Re: More Lacquer Questions - Where to get?

Made some calls to local suppliers and no one has or can get the PPG Duracryl. Need 2 gallongs (Ermine White is the goal).

Can someone recommend where to get it?

            Thanks!

Have not used them but they claim to have PPG Duracryl
