    C2 Plug Wire Vendors

I am looking for recommendations for the best vendor of spark plug wires for judging purposes.

    Thanks,
    Rick

All of the 'dated/original' plug wires come from the same GM licensed source. So, pick your poison when it comes to the distributor you buy from and you're on your way!

BTW, these will get you full credit during judging, but they're not the best quality plug wires out there.

Oh yeah, IF you're talking BB vs. SB, there's another caveat. Some distributors still have 'old stock' of GM original, but service replacement style, BB shielded wires. On these, the braid weave on the shield is more coarse than factory original wires of the era and you'll take a deduction for the Configuration difference (coarse weave vs. thin weave). So, read the ad copy or ask specifically before you buy about which version you're getting (old original GM service replacement wires with coarse weave braid or today's 'correct' reproduction wires with 'thin weave' braid)....

Be careful, I believe the correct weave was the coarse weave, 16 carier Wardwell braider was the manufacturing unit. I have the gauge of the wire that was braided if you need it. I just tossed a set of '69 dated wires as they had no continuity whatsoever, but they were a good example of the originals. I believe unless the vendor has corrected his process, the attachment of the '65-66 ground clips is not correct either.

You are correct Clup. The repro wires are very easily spotted as soon as the hood is raised.

I even noted them in the Judging Retreat on the car I was assigned to judge.

I recieved a 1 point deduction for my repo small block wires. The judge said that they all have the same problems and are "easy to spot" because they are thicker and not as smooth as the originals.
