C 1 Mstr Cylinder, lg vs. sm 022

First. thank you all for your help & advice on my MC issue. Maybe Jack could answer this? If the only difference is that the letters on the caseing were made larger in 1959, if I buy another master cylinder, J.T. Piper at Piper's auto thinks he's got one for me, can I just have my mechanic switch the housing with the numbers. It would be alot cheaper than rebuilding the whole unit. Pipers auto has been great & just sent me a set of Trico windshield wiper blades with the dots on the rubber, & a gas cap all still in original boxes! Boy was I happy when I opened that box. I speak to James when I call, they are in Illinois. It takes him awhile sometimes to find stuff but boy it's worth the wait.Just give him a list of what your looking for, thats what I did. I need windshield wipers like a whole in the head living in Arizona, but when it comes to judging I can just pop them on. He must have a really big junk yard.
    Thanks again you guys.

Your large 022 master cylinder is worth a BUNCH to those with SA cars later than your '58, Deb. You ought to be able to buy a small 022, ready to install, then turn around and sell your big 022 for what you paid for it OR MORE!

What makes this larger 022 one so valuable ? Three people have offered, under the guise of being swell & helping me by taking it off my hands. So I will have the money to get another rebuilt correct one. What's the real story Jack ?

The real story is that Piper is one of the most expensive used parts dealers in the Corvette hobby.

I found Piper auto no more expensive than everyone else. I bought a 1958 soft top frame restored with all the hardware & weather stripping it was 3500.00 it is mint. In Corvette Central I priced all the parts, it came to 3209.00 not assembled, how much will it cost me to put in. When I told James he is J.T. Pipers son-in -law, that the weather stripping wasn't correct & my top guy could get the cloth covered weather stripping that no one seems to have, Piper said fine, just have my guy take it off & he would refund me for the weather stripping. I also bought seats, backs & bottems, he had them redone it was 2300.00. He gave me no bill for the gas cap & the wipers that were still in the original boxes. He said it was for any inconvenience. I have had a few pros & cons about J.T.Piper auto, since I got my car. I was looking for seats & the soft top frame. I came on this board & asked if J.T.Piper was a reputable company. I would get all the usual names Corvette Central,Paragon, Al Knock. CC I give alot of business to, but Paragon is the worst. Everyone loves Paragon & they gave me a hard time about the cloth weather stripping. They tried to tell me they didn't make cloth covered weather stripping & fuzzie material around the deck area & I have a NCRS 3 Star & Bloomington Gold Survivor winner. NCRS gave my top no deductions, the paint stopped my car from a Bowtie. The guy was ranting on how he has a 58 in the showroom & it's from Carlyle & the fuzzie covered stuff would leak. The guy probably wasn't born til 1980.It's just like the 80 dollare wing nuts on Ebay. No one wants to pay the price, but this board sure lit up when these cars were getting six figures at Barrett-Jackson.It's all relative I just thought I would pass on a place that gave me quality workmanship & are a pleasure to do business with. When I ask the NCRS board I got good feed back on J.T.Piper. That is how I went to them in the first place.
          Cheers,
          Deb
