    Re: Replacement for optispark?

    Joe,

I assume (?) you're not up and running on your new computer yet?

I fully understand your policy of not re-composing answers. But, as an FYI, when it happens to me, I just go back to my "Sent Items" folder on my computer and either re-send or cut-and-paste. That way, nothing is lost for good since there's always a copy in my Sent Items folder.

In addition, if you're using your web-based e-mail with your old computer (i.e. still not able to download onto your computer) there's a good chance your web based system may have a copy of the e-mail also in its own "Sent Items" (or similar) folder.

Just tips on how to search for those "lost" answers.

      Patrick------

Actually, I do have the new computer up. I "cheated" a little bit as far as getting it set-up before the engine project is complete.

I realize that it might be possible to save some of my replies through a variety of methods. However, I'm just not going to get involved in much effort to "get around" problems like this.

        Re: Replacement for optispark?

        Joe,

They're automatically saved in the "Sent Items" folder if you use Outlook or Outlook Express. So, no "intentional" saving is needed.

I'm gonna tell Sara you cheated.

          Re: Replacement for optispark?

          Patrick-----

Most of my NCRS board-generated e-mails come to me through my @yahoo address. In yahoo, outgoing messages are not saved unless you specifically save them. I don't since it's an extra step, and I usually don't have any use for the things. Initiating a practice of saving them as a precaution to deal with folks who have set up some sort of "spam" or "incoming mail" control features which cause the "rejection" of my replies to questions sent to me is not something I'm interested in doing. I reply as a favor and courtesy to the sender; I don't consider it an obligation. If any obligation exists, in my mind anyway, it's the sender's obligation to ensure that my response can be received by them.

Sara's aware of the fact that I set up the new computer. I sort of "slid that by" by saying that my old one had just become completely disfunctional (well, it ALMOST had become so). Nothing was SAID about the engine project; she may be beyond that by now, though. She did give me a new wireless, optical mouse for the new computer a few days ago. So, I think that's some form of gesture of "acceptance" of the fact I set it up. The mouse is absolutely great, too. I could never go back to the old type.

Re: I did find a replacement but.......

But Wayne, it took them from 1932 to 1948 to figure out how to move the distributor And yes John, unfortunately I also am old enough to remember the Kong distributors. And to have had a '40, 46, and 2 48's.

              Computer thoughts

Wireless keyboards are the cats meow as well.
Joe I have thought of building my own tech library of responses by saving email correspondence. That way I could just cut and paste the answers to inquiries. I've never done it, but after typing a long winded response (my heritage is showing), I have thought of the time I could have saved if I saved all the messages and could just look them up as needed. I just throw out the thought for something to consider.

                email

Sorry about the email thing. I teach at a high school and everything is filtered pretty tight. I have no control over it but thanks for trying.
