I have heard that there is a correct (almost) battery for 1965 cars that is maintenance free. Will this battery work for NCRS judging or will it receive point deductions? What is this battery and where can I buy it?

Re: Correct 65 Battery
It is produced by restoration battery. I purchased one for my 65 and they did a great job with a quick turnaround time. They can even date the battery for you. Someone else would have to answer the question about point deductions. However, whatever modest deduction would be involved, I would think it would be worth it to have a more modern design if you intend to drive the car much.

Re: Correct 65 Battery
John, a good friend of mine has a 1965 396. he bought a battery from Restoration Battery in 2002. When he went to a regional for judging he received a 4 point deduction. At the Hershey national they gave him a 7 point deduction.I don't recall the exact reason, but if you like i can find out. I have a 1967, I went for judging from 1996 thru 1998 with a Restoration battery.I don't recall such a deduction.I guessing it has something to do with the tar top configuration. Hope this helps you.
