    Body Lift 70

I have done all my body work and margin setting and all paint work with the body on the chassis I figured it was the best way to get all the margins right. My ? is I want to remove the body and repaint the frame body has been off the car by some previous owner. I have been looking at pictures of factory body drops and it appears that all the interior except the seats/stearing column/Front Kick Panels are in place T/F also looks like front bumper/radiator/front grills/headlights & Hood T/F No rear bumper or rear valance panel T/F It looks like there lift point are Front Fender Lip/Front of door grabbing steel rocker portion/Rear Wheel Lip. The reason I am asking is I want to finish car for the summer and remove body next winter for frame resto and do not want to remove more than I have to. Also is there any place I can get more assembly line photos for 70.
    Thanks Harold

    Re: Body Lift 70

I did a body lift on a 67 coupe leaving most stuff in/on the body. I removed the seats and left pretty much everything else in place. Obviously the more you remove the lighter the lift. I used a chain hoist and a spreader beam arrangement using the rocker panel areas for lifting. This placed the weight on the internal metal cage of the body. I would not recommend lifting as the factory did unless I had the appropriate lifting "jigs" used in the fenders etc. by the factory. I have photos of my lifting mechanism and body dolly if you want them. Just e-mail me.
