What should the date on the outside mirror be for a St Louis body car built on Dec 17, 1965 ? Thank you in advance

Should look something like 6DMI5 DMI is manufacturer and 6 is month and 5 is year. Should be no more than 6 months behind the car.

John - In addition to the DMI mirrors (Donnelly Mirror Inc), Corvettes and other GM vehicles came with AX mirrors (Ajax). The same criteria applies as far as date of mirror preceding the date of car manufacture (up to 6 months). AX mirrors used an alpha character for the month. D-AX-6 equals April 1966. As far as I know, if you have an AX mirror it's the real thing because I don't think they were available as a SERVICE part and no one is repoping them or the glass. Pete
