Will be installing my new Quanta gas tank in my '56 and need some recommendations for a sending unit. I have noticed that there are several brands and prices. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I use a modified Delco
Delco only sells the '62 sending unit with a hose-type end on the tube.
I would heat the old brass threaded fitting (to remove the solder), and then sweat it onto the new sending unit. That way you can have a factory type attachment to the fuel line.
Unfortunately, the new replacement '62 unit won't have the same resistance range as the original sending unit in yout '56. You'll probably find that the gauge will never read completely full. However, it will still read empty when you're out of gas, and that's more important.- Top

Re: C1 Fuel Sending Unit
If your 56 is a early 56 the sender is the same as 55, gas leaving the tank at the bottom R/S. And if it is ,a 55 Chevy truck used the same sender as Corvette. You can some times buy them on e-bay (new) $25.00- Top
