Re: DAILY DRIVER QUALITY PAINT JOB SUGGESTIONS

Dick, it's a relative thing. I used to color sand and buff lacquer a couple of HOURS after the final top coat. Urethane needs to cure for a couiple of days, or possibly more, depending on the wether conditions and the exact type urethane/activator used. 36-48 hours is probably a good starting point, except for extremes in temp.

In the old days, people used to

get several club members together, strip the paint, and then paint the car. One advantage to being in a local club is that usually someone knew how to paint cars, at least enough to have decent street driver paint.

And being in a club, everyone being a buddy, you could get the paint for cost of paint, a few bucks for the painter, and usually a few refreshments for the stripping crew.

Being in NCRS doesn't exclude belonging to other clubs. In fact, many Corvette clubs will be a large percentage of NCRS or NCCC and often both. this board is excellent help, but there is nothing like having an extra set of hands or eyes a mile down the road.

Check out your local clubs soon.
