    1976 Emission Control Decal Question

My 1976 L-82 4-speed decal is in bad shape. According to the NCRS Tech info manual, the decal should be code ZF, part# 346212. On mine I can make out the Z, but it looks like it is the last letter of the code, and my part# is 372566. I purchased a replacement but it has code xy, and part# 458579?!

Can anyone shed some light on this, and tell me if and where I can get the decal with the correct code and part number?

    Thanks!!!!!

Re: 1976 Emission Control Decal Question

    Christopher-----

According to my information, the emissions label for a 1976 Corvette with L-82 for both federal and California emissions was code "XY" and GM #458579. The emissions label for a 1976 Corvette with L-48 and California emissions was code "XZ" and GM #458580. L-48 and federal emissions was code "XX" and GM #458578. Are you sure this car is an original L-82 (i.e. 5th place of VIN=X)? The engine tune-up specs found on an "XZ" label would not be correct for a 1976 L-82.

As far as I know, the "ZF" code emissions label, GM #346712, was used only for 1974 Corvettes with L-82.

I have no record of an emissions label with GM #372566. It may well have existed and certainly did if you have such a label. However, I can find no record of it and I would have expected such a part number for, possibly, late 1975 or early 1976. So, it might be a code that we are unfamiliar with. Mid-to-late 1970s emissions got very complicated and there are many things that may be "unrecorded".

      Addendum

      Christopher-----

I have found some information on emissions label GM #372566. It was used for 1976 Corvettes with L-82 and federal emissions. I don't have a code for it, though, or any other information on it. I expect that it was used for very early 1976 and was replaced by the "XY" code label for later production. What is the VIN or build date of your car?

As far as I know, this label is not among those currently reproduced.

        Re: Addendum

Mine was produced on September 30th of 1975. It is original except for its paint. All componets are original too. She just needs a little spucing up. I would like to have her judged. I appreciate all your time in researching this question. I cant wait until I become educated enough to CONTRIBUTE here!
