    Re: Nobody has mentioned NICB

    Harold,
Like Wayne, some years ago I was able to obtain the name and address of the original selling dealership and the delivery date for my 67 427/435 coupe from a P.I. in New York city. He advised me that the information was obtained from a contact he had at the NICB....so the information is there. I can also tell you that I have been in the insurance business for 38 years and that the information the NICB has is also accessible by certain member companies, including claims adjusting companies. It would seem to me that there is reason for optimism here....you just need to find someone with access....and yes I know there may be consequences if not done discretely...but I also know the information is still being retrieved on a one off basis....keep trying and good luck.

      Re: Vin #

I work frequently with the GM Media Archive folks as part of my magazine job; they are very helpful and accommodating, but they are also seriously overworked and understaffed compared to "the old days", before GM Photographic was disbanded. I'm sure there are lots of things they'd "like to do", but in the real world, they're up to their eyeballs in work just getting from one day to the next. Nice folks.

Re: Just who is the NICB?

Mike, I know you have been on this board for a while so you should recall that NCRS (as an organization) has approached the NCIB twice. Both times we have been resoundly ignored. Both times posts have been made here detailing that.

Thanks, Terry. I guess I missed those post. I knew many individuals had approached, but not aware that the full organization had done so. However, I would have expected them to somewhere during the long history of NCRS. Maybe if enough time has gone by, it is time to try again.

I'll bring it up in March.

If someone has a Lexis-Nexis subscription, you may want to see if you can get anywhere with this.

                  Thanks, Terry.

It is like when you stop every few months to ask about that old car sitting in the driveway where the owner "won't sell for any reason".

One day, someone walks up at the right time and it's his.

All it takes is the right guy to have just bought an antique car in their system or a new boss and if timing is right, we have hit the jackpot.

Of course, too often, and we become the pain they will never deal with.
