I wanted to pick-up a set of repro tires for my 62 for judging. I like kelseys goodyear super cushions compared to cokers silvertowns. How does the Kelsey tires quality compare to the cokers? I've seen very few 62s on judging fields with the goodyears? There must be a reason for this? I've also heard that Cokers tires are often not round. Any thoughts before I empty my wallet? Thanks in advance! Jon

Re: repro tires
Jon,
I decided to use the Kelsey Super Cushons on my 61 for the same reason. I've had BFG's and seen most judged C1 cars with BFG's so I decided to be a little different this time. I can't speak to the driveability issue as mine have only a few test miles on them.- Top

Re: repro tires
I had the BF Goodrich repro's (6:70/15)from Coker for for my '63 and they were too tall and I had to force the spare into the well. Measure before you buy. There is an old article from the Restorer about repro tires, I would look it up before buying. Bill- Top

Re: repro tires
I've never bought repros for my vets, but my brother is the original owner of his 66 big block. He bought, what he thought was, a stock steel wheel from Coker Tire. The wheel wouldn't turn and when removed, revealed that the brake caliper was seized inside. It obviously wasn't the correct wheel. But when he went to return it in person at Turkey Rod Run in Daytona, they gave him a REAL hard time and refused, saying that he should have told THEM that "it had disk brakes"! DUH!? They obviously shouldn't be in the wheel business and it sounds like their tire business isn't too reliable either.- Top
