    D106P points concern

I just installed a set of D106P points in my 66 327 300HP. I felt they would be better than generic point set of unknown spring tension, quality etc. I am concerned that the coil and capacitor wire connection is just a pressure connection from the point arm tension spring. The points I removed had a screw connection.

    Is this pressure connection reliable?

    Randy----

Delco points were made in both the "clip-terminal type" and the "screw terminal type". Generally, the screw terminal type were used on earlier applications and the clip terminal on later applications. However, the two types are interchangeable. All Uni-Set type points that I've seen used the clip terminal type. I've used these for years with no problems, at all. The clip terminal type were used in millions of PRODUCTION installations and gave no problems.

You can often find NOS examples of both type point sets on eBay.

      Thanks Joe

Guess if they were good enough for the General I shouldn't be concerned.

PS I did get them (2 sets) from E bay "made in Anderson,Indiana" according to the foil wrapper

I hope you didn't pay too much. There have been some on eBay going for a lot of money, but I have regularly bought them around $4.50 each. Some have had the nerve to have $10 or more each on them for a starting price.

Can't say I have had problems with clip type on cars. However, I have had problems with clip type on my old Harley. Then again, that old bike could be used for Beta testing the vibration resistance of parts. I stick to screw type when possible on the bike.
