Could some one please tell me the color or composition of the staples that mount the A- arm splash shields. I think I have located a pair of NOS shields. If not what is the nearest to original in thre repro shields. The original staples appear to be very hard does anyone reuse these? Thanks in advance. Dale

Re: A arm splash shields
I always make mine out of mechanics wire. I use a pair of 8" linemans pliers as the guide leaving 1/2" of wire on either side of the jaw. I just hold the wire with the jaws of the pliers and bend the outside wires down 90 degrees. Using them as a patern, one staple at a time, starting in the middle top, I drill holes in the flap and inner fender. Install that staple before you move on the the next. Maybe a little harder than using the stainless steel staples that you buy, but a whole lot closer to original.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: A arm splash shields
Thank you, Dick. That was what I was thinking as the original staples are so hard to bend back after opening. I opened one staple removed it and put it back in the old shield and tried to bend it back. It would not bend. I was afraid I would crack the fiberglass interfender panel. I did not want to try the wire without some experienced advise. I will proceed with caution. Dale- Top
