There are a number of Corvette 'boneyard' specialty shops around the country that part out wrecked cars who'd be a source for what you need. Sometimes, you can get lucky and find a Corvette in a local scrap yard (let you fingers do the walking through the yellow pages) and those will be your lowest cost source(s). But, finding a Corvette in a local scrap yard that hasn't already been bought up by the Corvette specialty bone yards is relatively rare....

The source for such items here in Denver is Corvelle Automotive. Keith Beyersdorf is the owner and he does general repair work as well as specializing in parting out Corvette wrecks (predominantly Shark cars). One nice thing about Keith is he makes annual treks to Bloomington and Carlisle, so for those customers who can wait on a major item (bird cage, body clip, frame, Etc.), it's possible to get 'home delivery' and several NCRS members on the east coast have done just that!

While the cars Keith parts aren't exclusively Colorado (the herd DOES migrate!), it's always been State law NOT to use salt on the roads and our body components are prized for their tendency to be salt/rust free. If you'd like to give Keith a call, try: (303) 777-2020. Mention my name, he'll chuckle and say something cute like: "Great, the price just doubled!" Yep, you've met Keith now...

Frank, I am sure I am totally off base but I think I would try and make repairs to the existing cage? I know, stupid, cheap me. However, I am sure that the critical areas are probably severely rusted through and this is why you are looking to replace. I cannot imagine there being too many solid cages from this era especially in the windshield and pillar and sill locations. But, like everything else, money talks. Our 72 convertible windshield frame was reconstructed and some repairs where made to the sills in the seat extension areas. We had to fabricate the extensions. Lot of work, we did ourselves and cage is very solid. Maybe a whole rear clip would be a lot easier!!!!
