The forward edge of my radiator fan is even with the opening of the radiator shroud. Previous posts state that the forward edge should be "in" the shroud in order to get the max flow of air through the radiator. There is a replacement, incorrect fan clutch in place. The water pump is a replacement unit also. It looks to me that if I want to move that fan forward into the shroud, a fan clutch with a longer "neck" would do the trick. Did the original fan clutches push the fan forward into the shroud?
The original fan/clutch combination was designed to place the fan blades half-in and half-out of the rear edge of the shroud, for maximum fan efficiency.
Thanks John - I found the original clutch and noticed it's "neck" is about 3/4 inch longer, pushing the fan into the shroud. I replaced the original clutch when I stored it upside down and fluid ran out of it's base. I will be sending it off to Fred O soon.
