    Sandblasting

This is probably a little off the subject but I am looking for a place in the Northern Illinois area (I live close to Fox Lake) that does automotive sandblasting. I have some misc brackets and crossmember pieces that I would like to get blasted so I can paint them but for some reason I can't find anything close listed in the yellow pages. I have to believe there are tons of places in this area that sandblast.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Elm.

      Elm,

You might want to have the smaller parts bead blasted instead. Some of the parts I had sand blasted left a grainy texture and when I painted them it showed through. I had to sand the first coat and repaint them to avoid the sand blast texture to come through.

        Elm,

You might try a monument company. They cut the granite headstones with via sand blasting. You could see if they can use a silica type sand and lower air pressure. John is probably correct that any machine shop should have a beed blast cabinet. If you were here in the Omaha area, I'd say bring them over and I'd do it for you at no charge. We have several beed blast cabinets and a paint booth... I knew there was a reason why I took this job!

        Good luck,

            Re: Sandblasting

I own a sandblasting business and I am partners in a powder coating business. I know this may not help you but if you need some help and are unable to locate any blasters in your area then I will gladly do this work for you. The only problem is paying for shipping.
