    Plug wire fit / questions - C2

As I was troubleshooting my uneven idle problem on my 67 327/300 hp car that turned out to be the coil to dist. lead (see other string from a couple of days ago), I observed again how my plug wire set doesn't fit well up under the radio distributor shield. My set was a custom set for my car from Corvette America if I recall, but it seems that it really wasn't sized to fit under the shielding well. Most wires are longer than they should be, with extra length coiled up where the vertical shields meet the plug shields. Also, the coil to dist lead has a straight connector on the coil end, and it binds significantly with the underside of the distributor shield. The wire gets a sharp bend right at the coil outlet that can't be good for the wires.

Do others have this problem? What is the solution? Is the coil to dist lead supposed to have a 90 deg connector at the coil end?

The part numners and lenghts of the original wires are as follows, #1, 2, 3 2985932-48", #4, 2985932-45", #5, 6-2985930-32" #7-2985927-28", #8-2985925-26" Right angle boots are not used at the distributor for the '67 smallblock engines. The dist coil lead is part # 2983719, and it is 8.5 inches in length tip to tip.
