Re: ASL Automotive Specialties, Sparks NV
Greg----
ASL has been out of business for quite a few years now. They were originally located in southern California and moved to Sparks sometime later. That was their final location.
The founder and principal of ASL was one Don Dorfman. After ASL went out of business due to a variety of "personal issues", Don "migrated" to the Seattle area and went to work for Boeing in their metal-finishing operations. I think that he may have gotten back into the business on a small-scale, part-time basis but I don't know if he's still involved, or not.
I don't know how to reach him.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Thanks Joe...you wouldn't happen to know where I could get some(Quick Black #C5005) that they used to supply, would you? It was from a Dec 92 Musclecar Classics article in which Roger Gibson was using it to restore cast components to their original appearance.- Top

No, I don't. I think that Don's chemicals were, basically, stuff that he made up from standard chemicals. The formulation was "proprietary". Usually, with these things, if you knew the formulation you could make them up easily. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

One supplier frequently mentioned on this board is Caswell Plating. I also used Don's plating supplies with good success. I am sorry that he is out of the business. Was a good guy to deal with
