This is on a 86 coupe. Does anyone know how to remove the metal moldings around the front windshield without damaging them? I appreciate any help/insight anyone has. Thanks again!

Jim, this probably isn't a lot of help but as I recall: the windshield outer trim and the weatherstrip retainer attach to the assembly with 3 to 4 phillips screws. If you can get the retainer off--the trim piece follows easily. The problem, as you know, is that the screws in the retainer section are covered by the weather strip piece. I don't remember if the rubber can be eased off (patience and adhesive remover) or if you can slightly pull it back from around the screws. I think the rubber has a "spiral" metal piece in it and that it may also fit into a small channel in the retainer? This is all probably "error" info since it has been so long ago. For me, my weatherstriping was awful and I am replacing--expensive stuff.
