1970 454 starter

A Delco reference for my 1970 LS-5 automatic lists an 1108429 starter as correct. Is this right? I just spotted one of these 1108429s on eBay but it has a date code of 8C15. The seller says it may be for a 1978 and he says that it was possibly made through 1978. This is the eBay listing: #7956830941.

My specifications Guide lists 1108429 starter for 454 with Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission from 1970 to 1974. After that, 454 engines were no longer factory-installed in Corvettes so the number disappears from the Guide for later years. If the date codes are right, then I would guess that it was produced later for 454 with automatic transmissions. If the 8 was 0, it would be perfect for your car! March 15, 1970. The problem there is that March 15, 1970 was a Sunday and I doubt they did stampings on Sunday...But I don't know that for sure.

Tony, I already have a rebuilt 1108429 starter, date code 0A10, which is fine by me given the difficulty in finding the stuff. But that one on eBay struck me as odd. The seller even reconfirmed the date stamp when I also asked if the 8 could be an 0.

The date code is no mystery, at all. This starter could have been used in PRODUCTION for other applications long after 1970 (I have not checked to confirm that) or it could be a SERVICE starter that was manufactured on the date the seller described.
