    Terry-----

I don't think so. The 68 handles were all of different part numbers and I believe that the configuration of the arm was a bit different. I'm not certain, though. To confirm one way or the other compare the casting number on known-original 68 arms to the ones for 1967 previously reported.

In later SERVICE, all of the 67+ window crank handles were "consolidated" into one part number but, originally, there were slight differences in the parts.

Joe, in the next couple of days I will get my window crank handles together to compare, I have a couple out of 67 corvettes and some out of 68 corvette and 68 passenger cars. I will post casting numbers on them and maybe send you a few pictures. The one 68 bright blue one's I have are pretty unique from the back side. All for now, Terry

        Re: 1967 Window Crank Handles

        Hi Rick:

I have been researching this same issue for my 67 with black interior. I don't have all my notes handy, but I have determined that the black window and vent cranks used in 67 Corvettes were widely used in other 1967 GM cars. Interestingly, only one of the Corvette colors (described in the parts book as "medium bright blue", part number 7719242) was used in other GM cars.

So, if you want to find a nice set of black cranks, you may find a better deal by searching for Camaro, Chevelle, Corvair, GTO, etc. On ebay, nice used "Corvette" cranks typically sell for about $100 a pair, while nice "Corvair" cranks cost quite a bit less.

On used GM originals, typically the knobs look fine but the chrome has pitting. NCRS judges look for the pitting and typically find it on original handles.

I considered various schemes for removing the knob so that the handle could be rechromed, then re-attaching the knob with an arrangement that duplicates the appearance of the original factory rivet. This is possible to do and may be the best path for owners with colored Corvette cranks, but for those of us with black interiors I'm not sure it is necessary. There is a pretty good supply of used black cranks because they were so widely used in other GM cars. After searching for a while I came up with some used originals that are near-NOS quality.

Many of the reproduction cranks have knob designs that are way off, and handle designs that do not quite match the original design. Thus far, the best reproduction I have seen for the black window crank is part number IN-118 at the Camaro web site http://www.rickscamaros.com/ Visually, it is very hard to distinguish this part from the original. I have not tried installing it, so I can't comment about how well it fits. This part sells for only $9.95.
