Re: 66 rear end possibilities
Joe-----
A 1966 Corvette with 300 hp could not have been ordered with a 3.70: rear gear ratio. 3.36:1 was the numerically highest ratio that could be ordered with the 300 hp engine. Of course, this is for orders placed through normal channels. Placed through a COPO process, I suppose that it would have been, theoretically, possible. I really doubt that any such thing would ever have been done unless there were a lot of other "non-standard" items also desired. Plus, to convince anyone of it you'd need documenation. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I believe that the page that you're referring to just lists the available axle ratios by codes. Not all ratios were available with all engine/transmission combinations, though. The 300 hp (base) engine for 1966 was only available with 3.08:1 and 3.36:1 rear axle ratios. Positraction could be ordered for either of those ratios, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
