Can someone please tell what is the correct fan for a 1967 Vette with 427 and air-conditioning? Looked in judging manual and many catologs with no firm help. Thanks in advance. Bill Lehmann

Re: Correct Fan Blade
Bill - It should be part number 3888366 (17-1/2" dia., 5 blades) for 1966 and 1967 Corvette (427). Generally, 66 will be stamped on the support piece on the front in the hub area. The same fan blade assembly was used for A/C (RPO C60) and non-A/C 427 engines. NOTE: There is no call out in the '67 AIM (or the '66 AIM) for a different fan blade assembly for the 427 engine with A/C (C60) as there is for the 327 engines. Pete- Top

Re: Correct Fan Blade
Bill-----
According to GM it was GM #3888366. This is a 17-1/2" OD, 5 blade assembly. GM says that the same fan blade assembly was used for 1967 427s, with or without C-60.
Some folks think that a 7 blade fan of 18" OD was used. They may be right but I don't think so. Why? Well, the only 7 blade, 18" OD fan that GM had available in the Corvette "parts bin" in 1967 was the GM #3853943, which was used on some 1964-E66 Corvettes with A/C. While this fan blade assembly did have a larger diameter and more blades, it had less capacity than the 3888366. Other factors besides number of blades and OD figure into the capacity for a fan blade assembly. Among these other factors are blade pitch and blade size/configuration.
In 1967, the GM #3888366 was the highest capacity fan blade assembly which GM had available for Corvettes. It was definitely used for 1967 Corvettes with 427 and without A/C. So, why would GM have used an earlier design, LOWER capacity fan blade assembly for 1967 Corvettes with A/C. Wouldn't make a lot of sense, would it?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
