This has probably been adressed 3 million times, but have patience with a rookie. I've heard both sides of the arguement on whether or not to use gasket or some other type of sealant when putting the reproduction clamps on new hoses. Do I use sealant or not? I've heard that it will be tough or impossible to get them off if/when that time comes. I'd appreciate any help.

Re: Hose clamps and sealant
I used the dated, reproduction hose clamps when I restored my '67. The supplier recommended a sealant. I used a black, silcone adhesive because the excess could be easily cleaned off with plain rubbing alcohol. It worked fine with no leaks and I didn't have to worry about over tightening the clamps to prevent leaking.- Top
