I have put my 66 back together, and apparently overlooked the lower radiator hose spring. My new hose didn't have one, and niether did the old one, but I have heard that high speed overheating can be a problem (My car hasn't been driven much, so I don't know if it is even an issue yet). Do I need the spring, and if so, where can I get one of these spings at? Thanks in advance, Dan

Re: Lower Radiator Hose Spring
Most newly-manufactured hoses don't need the internal spring, as they use different materials and processes than the original hoses did; the old hoses softened with age and heat and needed the spring to maintain their shape in their "old age".- Top

John and Dan-----
...and besides that the springs are not seperately available and are virtually impossible to install in molded hoses, anyway. Recently, I removed the original lower hose from my old Cadillac. The original hose had the spring and the new GM hose didn't. So, I tried to remove and re-install the spring in the new hose. I never succeeded and I'll NEVER try that gain.
