    66 console chrome

    Can the outer chrome bezel be removed for repair or replacement on 66 center consoles. I don't see them offered separately in the usual catalogs. Thanks - Doug

      Doug, I have a 65 with the same problem. I tried to get it restored but all they did was paint the black in the middle etc...I don't know why they would not offer new consoles? Let me know if you hear anything?

          Rechrome the complete piece, less the brushed trim around the shifter. Mask and paint, install new brushed trim. Looks like new.

              Wayne, What type of prep. and paint would you use to stick to the chrome surface? Thanks - Doug

                  When I painted my guage cluster, I scuffed it with 400 and used a self etching primer before I could get any paint to stick to it.
