Regarding 1111153 and 1111156 distributors, ('66 small block non T.I.) how can I indentify these if the I.D. band is not attached? I'd like to be able to tell if it the distributor is correct, whether the I.D. band is still attached or not.

Re: DISTRIBUTOR IDENTIFICATION
I don't think you can tell if it's a correct/original distributor without the original neck band. About all you can do is crack your copy of the Chassis Service Manual, look up the advance characteristics for the factory/original distributor, pull what's on your engine and run it on a calibration machine (e.g. Sun) to see how closely it tracks the original spec....- Top

I agree with Jack; there's no way to positively ID a Corvette distributor if the ID band has been removed (or, even if it's still there; these things can be changed quite easily).
One "clue", though, if the distributors still have their original vacuum controls on them is you will find the number "355" embossed on the bottom of the vacuum control arm of the 1111153. The 111156 will have the number "236" emossed there. That's not a positive ID, of course, since many other distributors also used these vacuum controls and, also, the control could have been changed. But, if you KNOW that the distributors are either 111153 and 111156 and the vacuum controls are original to them, then this will work.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
