First wave launched; reporting feet wet!

Rocky Mountain Chapter's mission control revealed the first phase of Operation 'Shrimp on the Barbie' had succeeded this evening with Eckhard & Terri Pobuda's lift-off from LA enroute to Sydney, Australia. The second wave of troups, Jack Humphrey, is scheduled to depart tomorrow (I'll be off the air for a couple of weeks folks). RMC's clean-up squad, Chapter Chairman Ralph Ridge and his wife Sharon, depart on Monday.

Operation SOTB's objective is to join forces with Roy Sinor, Michael Pierce, Tom Barr and Charlie Cadenhead to lend assistance to the newly formed NCRS Australia Chapter in conducting the first Asia-Pacific Flight Judging session. You guys be good while we're gone and we'll drink a 'warm' one for ya.

Seriously, in addition to the day-to-day 'chase' of executing restoration/preservation on your Corvette, give some thought to volunteering for oversea duty. Expanding NCRS beyond North America IS a slice of history and it's a way to see the world, literally, from behind the steering wheel of a Corvette with the global friendship support of your fellow NCRS club members.

Think it's a 'jungle' here deciding what's 'right' and where to get those elusive parts? Try doing the same task(s) from Europe, the Pacific Rim, South America, Asia or Africa!!! Going abroad and rolling up you sleeves is a 'hoot' you'll remember the rest of your life! Restorer article to follow for those you aren't making the trek with us to the Land of Oz....

How ya gonna handle RHD conversions and ...

... factory tinted windshield replaced by clear glass ('70 and up) ?

Per 1st paragraph in all NCRS Judging Guides, is right-hand-drive conversion and clear windshield ('70+) considered "dealer prep" ?

Re: How ya gonna handle RHD conversions and ...

First, the NCRS Judging Reference Manual ('white' book) already provides rule making. Refer to Section 2, Rule 25, Subsection B where it allows any/all state or federally mandated safety modifications to be pass Flight Judging without deduction(s).

But, Murray Forman (Australia's Judging Chairman) has worked closely with Roy Sinor on this issue. Roy met with National Team Leaders and developed an 'inital' position on RHD conversions. What I've been told is this position is for a 'standard deduction' of 3% for the car and judges ignore the specific impact to Interior, Exterior, Mechanical, and Chassis.

But, if you want to know more, wait for the article to reach Restorer or join the chapter, roll up your sleeves and come on down and work with us!
