I put a set of Pirelli P4000 tires (as per recommendations from this site) on my 1966 coupe last fall before I put it in storage. Max tire pressure rating is 44 psi. Would like to know what tire pressure to run to get the best combination of handling, ride comfort and tire wear. The car only sees about 3000 miles per year. Thanks

Re: C2 Pirelli P4000 Tires
Assuming it's a SB, I recommend 32 psi all around (cold). If it's a BB add two psi in the front. These tires only need close to maximum cold pressure if they are carrying maximum load, which is over 1600 pounds per tire, but they are only carrying a little over half that.
These are pressures for best handling and low rolling resistance. If you feel the ride is too harsh reduce the pressure in two pound increments and make your own judgment as to what it the best compromise, but I would not recommend less than 24 for normal driving, and 28 for long distance driving in hot weather.
If the rear seems harsh, look at the spring link cushions. How old are they? IMO they should be changed every 5-6 years regardless of mileage. They get compressed and hard with age and load, and a new set does absolute wonders for the ride and restores sagging butts to proper ride height!
Now if only my own sagging butt could be restored for ten bucks and an hour labor...;)
