AC Delco PF-25 Oil Filter

Does anyone know when the color of the AC Delco oils filter changed from white with red and blue lettering to the current Blue color? Thanks, Jim 42765

It was around 1976 that the blue PF-25 was introduced. That version had the early style large decal w/ the red AC logo on it. Subsequent editions of the PF-25 had a rectangular white decal.

Thanks Dave, The PF-25 has been discontinued and replaced with a PF-454 which has a smaller can. I'm trying to get a supply of the PF-25 before they are all gone.

Ebay is a good place to find them. Search under filters and you will find multiples. You can use a PF-35 which is a larger version of the PF-25 and some consider to be more effective.

The engineering change on the actual AC drawings indicates the change to blue paint occurred in early 1974. Although the actual production date is not known, it is reasonable to assume the blue filters began to be used on 1975 models. From a judging standpoint, I would expect to see either a white filter or a blue filter in cars built in the 1974 calendar year and those built in calendar year 1975 through the 1982 model year to be blue. 1984 models and later were painted black for original equipment but were only available in blue as service parts. If anyone has any information to the contrary or any additional information, I would be pleased to get it.
