numbers designation 1962

I am currently preparing to assemble the original 340 H.P. engine for my car and come up with conflicting info. on whether the "I" was used (for September). According to Noland Adams "the "I" was omitted because it too much resembled a 1" My heads, however read I 22 1. My block J 8 1 and my car produced around Nov. 10 1961. thanks for any help, Charlie Lambusta

Heads I 22 1 = Sept 22, 1961 Block J 8 1 = Oct 8, 1961 If car asy is Nov 10, 1961, I'd say you are looking pretty good.

I suggest that you rely less on a book by a single author from the 80's than you rely on the judging manual produced by a number of knowledgeable people that was updated in 2000. Dennis was one of those--he's right on.
