    C2 Protect-O-Plate decoding

(1966) Should the protect-o-plate be stamped the same as the engine, trans, and rear end? I know that the p-o-p has an "H" after the engine code. Example: Let say the engine is stamped: F1209HT, the p-o-p would read: F1209HTH. Is there anything different with the trans or rear end codes? (rear end is stamped : AS113065, and the tranny is: P1123) Is this what should be on the p-o-p?

Ken the first year as I understand it for a Corvette to have the "POP" was 1967. Do you have one for your 66 Corvette?

I have a '66 with an original POP. (Tank stickers, however were not installed until '67)

        Rpb,

In Noland Adams book he says some might have appeared on late 66's, just happened to read it yesterday.

I stand corrected, I knew the tank stickers started in 67, and only thought the "POP" started in 67 as well.

Re: Still looking for my answer about p-o-p codes

Thanks for the great info, but no buddy has answered my original question about the proper protect-o-plate coding.

Yes, plus the paint and interior codes. The 'H'stands for Holley.

Trans the same; Rear with a "W" after the ratio..

..code and date (for Warren MI assy plant). There's also a single letter designation for month of vehicle production, and the Chev bowtie. Format varied from '65 thru '67. If you have your AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) there's a page showing codes and location on the card.

                    Attempt from a 67 POP

                    Ken,

This is from a 67 which may be different then a 66

                    Rear End: AS113065 The 67 pop would have AS1130W meaning 327 3.70:1 (AS), November 30 (1130), Warren Plant (W)

                    Transmission: P1123 The 67 pop would have P7S30D(or N) meaning Muncie 4 speed (P),
                    Nov 30 1967 (7S30), Day or Night Shift (D or N). Maybe the 66 just has the P1123 followed by a D or N

Engine Code F1208HT The 67 pop would have F1208HTH meaning Flint Motor Plant (F or V), December 08 (1208), 327/350, 4 speed, highlift cam, 4 bbl (HT) holley (H)

Maybe someone with a 66 POP will chime in, I think the only difference is in the transmission date code where they used a letter for the month.

                    Hope this helps,
