NCRS Point Deductions - Acrylic Lacquer

Has anyone heard whether the NCRS is still considering lifting the total deduction if paint deviates from acrylic lacquer? I heard they were considering allowing certain clear coat and similar applications. Thanks in advance for the help. Joe

I guess this rumour just won't die. NCRS couldn't care less what you paint your car with.

In Flight Judging, if it looks like lacquer, waddles like lacquer, quacks like lacquer, it must therefore BE lacquer. Ergo there's no deduction.

It's up to you to choose what materials and techniques you want to use to make it look like lacquer.

ln one of Roy Sinor's recent columns in the NCRS Restorer he explained the new paint standard deductions. To me, the article just put in perspective what was already being done in some classes. It just spells out to the car owner and the judges what, if any, deductions are to be taken and for what. Follow the link below for a copy of the Standard Deductions for paint

How would NCRS handle the few Corvettes delivered that were sold having no paint at all C1's, or the few C2's and the trim paint code plate???.

Just like the NCRS Judging Standard...

...says - (in short) - like it came from the factory - ie: presented in primer to receive no deduction on paint color.
