    66-Seatbelt retractor cover/boot question

Gentlemen: My original seatbelt reatractor boots/cover are split in several places and I want to replace. I understand in my NCRS tech guide that along with the dimple on the side 1966 (late) have a hole inside the boot, while 1966 early builds have No Hole. My 39 yr old factory ones have no hole.

Can someone tell me what the purpose of the hole is?

I have my seatbelts being restored by Ssnake-Oyl Products right now and they have the "hole" version boots in their stock that they can paint for me right away. My build date in April 7, 1966 according to the B-day calculator. If the hole serves a purpose, ie prevents boot(s) from spliting, etc I will go with this which is easier to complete this restore. Otherwise COrvette Central has the "hole" boot covers and I will order them there and send to Texas.

    Thoughts??? Thank-you.

Be careful of the "early" and "late"designations

as used -'65 #21,083 had one "early" retractor and one "late" retractor, for example.
