I am in the process of rebuilding my 67 427/435. The engine had a 7115 crank in it but it was pretty beat up and had to be turned 10/20. I also have a brand new nitrided 3856223 crank. I am leaning towards having the 6223 cross drilled and using it. Either way everything will be balanced. I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks, Cliff

Re: 427 crankshaft
Thanks Clem , I will have the 6223 crank magnafluxed and checked to be sure it is straight before using it. From your responce I assume that you think the fresh crank would be the best choice of the two. Thanks, Cliff- Top

Re: 427 crankshaft
Cliff,
When Clem speaks on engines--just listen! Do what he says and your 435HP/427 will live to run again and again.
He helped write the bible on performance engines long before we were a twinkle in our daddy's eye.

Re: A question for that hot rod kid Clem
When you speak of die grinding the oil holes, are you speaking of a slight groove straight across the entire bearing surface on either side of the hole, or just oblonging the holes edges slightly?
Thanks Clem,

Re: A question for that hot rod kid Clem
i just put a groove across the oil hole the width of the hole by going straight down with the side of the 3/8" diameter by 3/4' to 1" long stone till it reaches the width of the oil hole. you end up with a oval shaped groove cut into the journal.- Top
