I am interested in purchasing a 2005 Corvette and of course it has to be ordered. Here is the question for those that may have already purchased one. The local dealer tells me that they wont come off the MSRP at all on the 2005 model. Is this true or am I dealing with the wrong people? Is their a site on line that will find and purchase one at a discounted rate? Thanks for the help because they are nice but expensive.

Re: C6 2005 Question
Don, it depends on whether you are interested in the coupe or the convertible. Fitchner Chevrolet in Laurel, Montana has been discounting coupes $2500 for several months (arrange courtesy delivery at a dealer near you, or take RC8, museum delivery). I have heard of other deals near $5000 discount, but it takes some prospecting to find them. Convertibles are still up close to MSRP with very slight discounting just beginning.
Depending on the equipment you want, getting your car equipped like you want it could be a problem. Convertibles are ramping up to full planned production, but allocations are still not easy to get. All convertible top colors except black are discontinued for 2005. Magnetic Red and Millenium Yellow are discontinued; it appears their replacements Monterey Red and Velocity Yellow will be available on late 2005s. Performance package Z51 is on heavy constraint, and if you want it on a convertible, you can forget about it. The navigation system option is also on constraint- Top

Re: C6 2005 Question
Don, I watched the C6 market for several weeks before buying. I saw $1500-$2500 below MSRP on coupes in the North and Midwest but I didn't want to travel to buy out of state. But the problem was that here in Florida, dealers were looking for $2000-2500 over MSRP. When I found the car I wanted on GMbuypower.com at my local dealer, with my check in hand, I pressed the dealer and got my Machine Silver coupe equipped exactly as I wanted for $1700 under MSRP and less than 10 miles from home. Be patient and good luck to you. Jim- Top

Correction
"The navigation system option is also on constraint."
I am in error; NAV was on constraint last week; apparently off constraint this week.
Wow, if 2005s ever make it to NCRS judging, it will be a nightmare...Precision Red discontinued and Victory Red introduced in September, Magnetic Red discontinued in April, and Monterey Red introduced ???. Power tops not available until say February. Polished wheels on again/off again, competition gray painted wheels introduced say December...YOUNG NCRS judges better take good notes.- Top
