    '61 driveline

I thought my drive line was covered in grease and blow by from before engine rebuild so cleaned it up with petrol-sorry, gas. It took it to bare metal. Is the drive line covered in the same material as the wheel wells or is it supposed to be painted black? One other silly question, what color is the top, slotted for adjustment generator braket supposed to be- mine was chromed?
    Thanks in advance.

    Generator Brace

According to the 61-62 TM & Judging Guide the brace is painted semi gloss black. As far as the driveshaft goes there are two schools of thought. Some say semi gloss black. Others insist on natural.

The driveshaft is painted black. Not sure if gloss, or semi-gloss. It is not coated with the stuff in the wheelwells. The stuff in the wheelwells is rubberized undercoating. Don't use that. You'll never get it to balance.

The generator adjusting brace or bracket was also painted black gloss or semi-gloss. Not chrome.

I also occasionally use gasoline for initial cleaning of greasy stuff. Hope you understand that it's a dangerous practice. Dangerous as in inhaling the fumes. Dangerous as in using it in enclosed places makes for explosions. You also have a hazardous waste disposal problem.
