    Interesting. I am guessing that there is another factor at play then that causes the breakage then what I was theorizing.

    By the way John, did Chevy realize back then that torquing the springs with the spring NOT flat would break the covers? Did they have any problems with breakage? If so, I wonder why the CSM doesn't mention it or why Chevy didn't release a tech bulletin on the topic. Or did they?
