I've removed these seatbelts from the '62 in preparation for installing some more correct ones, and am now wondering whether these are Corvette (or plain Chevy/GM) belts, perhaps mid years? If the picture isn't clear enough, they're 5 panel belts, with CAA and SAE specs on the tags. The male buckles both have a 654 stamped on them, and the female buckles are American Safety CS5000B2's, with patent numbers 2,846,745 and 3,390,436. The buckle releases are painted black. The set is in really nice shape, but they certainly don't belong in a C1. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I can't ID them, but I'm pretty sure that they were never originally used on any Corvette. They are "period correct", though. They may have been used on some other model car of the early 60s or they could be SERVICE-only belts for early 60s Corvettes. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I am pretty sure you would not have an Irving Air Chute label with an American Safety Buckle. The male tang on the belt with the label appears to be correct as does the label. The buckle would have a part number ending in 810 stamp on the back. Also measure the webbing to see if the width of each bar is the same. By your picture they appear to be slightly different. The buckle you have is not typically seen on any Corvettes. It is the same number of late 63 and early 64, but the configuration is incorrect. I believe NCRS has or had a book available which is all about Corvette Seat Belts and Buckles. I don't recall the name of it. Good Luck- Top
